Tasty tasty

Finally! I cleaned my workspace today in a major way. AND created a nice little space for my personal odds & ends that I keep here at work: utensils, condiments, dental care, etc! This cabinet was previously cluttered with papers and folders; I went through all of them and was able to get rid of the bulk of it.

By the way, that is NOT a bottle of wine 🙂 Well, it was once upon a time, but we converted it into to an olive oil dispenser.

Fitness:
-55 minutes at the gym: 15 minutes stretching/abs/core, 25 minutes legs, 15 arms.
-I also plan to run home from work, about 4 miles.

Food:
Mid-morning snack: 6 dried Cali figs
Pre-workout snack: a small yogurt with a cup of Kashi GO LEAN Crunch! Honey Almond Flax
Lunch: Salad grees with sprouted sunflower seeds and brown rice, drizzled in olive oil, and two slices of Alvaredo Street Bakery Sprouted Multi-Grain toast, drizzled in olive oil

Gorgeous

The 9:00-5:00 plan has been thrown off a little lately. For a while there, I was in bed by 10 and up by 6…..Last night I was in bed at 10:30, and up at 6:45. Meh.

I had a nice little chat with my mom last night. She is so funny. She was telling me a story about how when she was walking around San Antonio last weekend, she got lost and ended up in a sketchy part of town. Walking down the street, she saw a homeless man coming her way. She didn’t want to be harassed for money or anything, so she said she starting talking out loud so he would think she was crazy and leave her alone. Oh, Mom. Too funny!

Mood:
3.5 stars

Food:
Breakfast: I wanted to make oatmeal, but I needed something quick this morning. A cup of Fage 2% Greek yogurt with 4 tbs of Ezekiel Original and 1 tbs of rolled oats, drizzled with agave. Yummmm.

Gorgeous, isn’t she?

What a great day! I met up with Liz, Kate, and Kate’s adorable baby Daniel at the farmer’s market, then we walked over for a coffee at Progress. I treated myself to a hot mocha; it was good! Some mochas are either too heavy on the chocolate or else the coffee is too strong; this one had the perfect balance…..Then I went for a nice, long run at Town Lake. Running really clears my head, and I had a lot of thoughts that had to be cleared today. Thank goodness! It was a beautiful day too, sunny and blue skies, and a strong breeze…..I wrapped the outing up with a quick trip to Whole Foods for various items. I think I’m getting a little jaded, because going to WF isn’t as fun as it used to be. Austin has the BEST WF in the US, but we’ve been going there so much lately that its charms are starting to wear off. Oh no! I still love it, but maybe the honeymoon phase has run its course.

Today was kind of weird with the meals because of the timing. I never really had lunch, and I’m about to go play an indoor soccer game, so I don’t want to have dinner yet. I did have a snack to tide me over. I plan to eat a BIG salad when I get back!

Fitness:
8 mile run at Town Lake.
Next up: indoor soccer game (40 minutes–no subs tonight! 1 sub, thankfully!)

Food:
Lunch: Esentially, it was the hot mocha.
Post-run: 7 dried Cali figs
Early evening snack: Cup of Fage 2% with a teeny bit of Ezekiel Original and rolled oats, and a generous drizzle of agave nectar

Greenheart:
I brought some plastic vegetable bags and containers from home and “reused” them for my purchases at WF.

Somehow, today turned into a day of doing nothing. It was supposed to be a day of doing something. Lots of somethings. I had a lot of somethings to do. What happened?

Food:
Post-breakfast: I had a tiny bowl of greek yogurt with agave nectar and again..straight from the jar….2 tbs of PB! Oh, and I think a square of the orange-chocolate worked it’s way in somewhere.
Lunch: Two eggs over whole grain toast, with a side of salad. I ended up not eating the salad. It seemed to complicated. Or not complicated enough. I don’t know. I wasn’t feeling the greens.

Warning: graphic image below. One of the eggs was severely injured in the cooking process.

Post-lunch: A cup of greek yogurt drizzled with agave nectar and a couple of tbs of Ezekiel Original. Later, some Happy Rice. And a cookie. Lucas has just brought me a small snickerdoodle cookie. Thanks. A lot.

So you see…it’s not an unhealthy eating day. It’s just random. And not the best. No fruits, no veggies (except for the carrot at breakfast). I’m just not into that at all today. Maybe dinner will see a change?

Fitness:
None. Not into that today either, apparently. 🙂

Buenas noches

Fitness:
Day off

Food:
Afternoon snacks: Large apple; Ezekiel Original with soymilk and chocolate chips(!)
Dinner: Soup with squash, carrots, celery, onion, sweet potato with a chicken-based broth
Dessert: Greek yogurt with agave…and more chocolate chips. Chocolate chip overload today. I was feeling a bit too “snacky.”

We watched “Rudo y Cursi” on Nextflix.com. Like Gael Garcia Bernal, it was cute….Keeping up with subtitles before bedtime–a little tiring! Best to watch this movie when you are wide awake!

I saw my friends Ashley and Jenni of OutofControlFatroll.com at Town Lake. They manage to look cute while working out. Luckies!…Check their blog out!!! These ladies are currently in round 2 of a weight loss competition that they chronicle on their blog, along with food, fitness, and other fun facts. Love them!

Fitness:
6.2 miles at Town Lake. I wanted to do some toning exercises afterward, but I came home starving and made a beeline for the kitchen. Now I’m full….so that’s either going to have to wait or not happen at all.

Food:
Snack: 3/4 large apple, 2 Medjool dates, a piece of spirolina
Lunch: leftovers from last night

Grocery store:
Yes, it happened! And…I got some great deals today!
-32 oz tub of Fage 2% Greek Yogurt was on sale for $5.99. This is a real bargain when you consider the 16 oz. tub is $4.99.
-Free organic celery! Always check your receipt—instead of charging me for celery, the cashier rang it up as asparagus—$11.91!! Say what?!?! After loading up my groceries, I checked the receipt and caught that whopping mistake. A nice man in customer service refunded me the $$$ and didn’t charge me for the celery.
-Organic chicken for $3.99 a pound by buying the whole chicken.
-Saved $1.00 by getting my steel cut oats in the bulk section.

Green heart:
I brought brown bags and plastic containers to reuse at WF for my groceries and bulk items.

Q: Do you check your receipt after shopping?

Ready for Sunday Brunch!

Mood:
Not too shabby.

My shoulder is feeling better, still a bit tight and sore, but overall ok. I said I would share the story behind the mystery injury, so here it is:

I left my friend’s house late Thursday night and was putting a few things into the car. It was dark and quiet, so I got a little worked up and the paranoid thoughts began darting through my head. A few years ago I was mugged in a stairwell of an NYC apartment. It was scary to say the least. Anyway, that experience has made me a little jumpy when I’m alone and not at home. Not all the time, but sometimes. Thursday night was one of those sometimes. So I started to tense up, shoving my things into the backseat and hopping into the car. I reached for the door fast and slammed. Then OW. Tense muscles + fast movement = pulled shoulder.

I know. Boo hoo. On to food.

Food:
Breakfast: We’re meeting friends at 11:00 am for brunch at Eastside Cafe (this place gets two greenthumbs up!). But I woke up hungry and wanted a little something to tide me over. I had one cup of  organic low-fat vanilla yogurt and 1/4 cup of Yogi Granola Crisps.

The Yogi Crisps were on sale at Whole Foods for $3. Sweet & crunchy.

I’m a Fage fan. No muss, no fuss—no added flavors or sugars. It’s the only yogurt we really buy. But a friend is doing a vegan cleanse and gave us all of her dairy! We scored some Stoneyfield Low-Fat French Vanilla yogurt; not bad.

Doesn’t food feel fancier when it’s served it a wine glass? Classy, classy. 🙂

Must do dishes, get dressed, and go.
