Mood:
Tired with a side of relaxed

Food:
Lunch: I came home on my lunch break! I can get used to this…..Lucas had a glass of fresh juice waiting for me. The juice had carrots, apple, orange, lemon, celery.

Dinner: I used my first Groupon! $15 for $30 worth of dinner at Galaxy Cafe. My PSA for the day: if you live in or near one of the (participating) major US city, sign up for Groupon! It’s free, costs you nothing, no obligations–you decide when you want to take advantage of the great deals that they offer. I pick and choose very carefully. It’s easy to want to buy all of the deals, but I try to purchase only the things I would normally use. Check out their website for a better idea of how Groupon works.

Upscale fast food that takes a little longer. Choose a menu, order at the cashier, find a seat, and a super friendly staff member brings you your meal.

I had the Brie and Smoked Turkey Sandwich: smoked turkey and creamy french brie with mixed greens, tomato & chipotle apricot jam on a grilled baguette. I chose Sweet Potato Fries as my side. I just can’t get enough, I just can’t get enough.

Dear, delicious sweet potato fries…

And in the street……..What exactly defines a “Hard Core American”? Hmmmm…..

Might the owner of the above Jeep be related to the owner of this truck (snapped on a street in Corsicana)?

“Heritage, not hate.” Um, really?

Speaking of Corsicana, this past weekend I was there and went to Two Doors Down, an AWESOME coffee shop that I wish was there when I lived in C-town. Photos to come…loved that place and the people–so friendly! Only in Texas!

Food:
Mid-morning snack: 4 glorious Medjool dates.
Lunch: Salad greens with cucumber slices and celery sticks, topped with a bean salad (pinto beans, olive oil, tomatoes, parsley)….and later ham & cheese (non-organic) on homemade white bread

Fitness:
-45 minutes gym (abs & legs)
-Plus I plan to run home after work (4.5 miles)

I met up with my friend Peggy and we enjoyed Happy Hour at Blue Star Cafeteria. We had some good one-on-one time!…The grilled cheese at BSC is to die for, and the Kiona Riesling is my new favorite.

Food:
Dinner: Grilled cheese sandwich and 2 glasses of Riesling
Dessert: I had half a pint of my favorite ice cream: Amy’s Mexican Vanilla while catching up one some 30 Rock episodes. My kind of Friday night! 🙂

Three cheers for Girls’ Night Out!

Happy Hour:
Apparently Sampaio closed down, so we headed next door to Blue Star Cafeteria. Uh, can I say thank you Sampaio for closing down, or else I would have never discovered the wonder that is The Grilled Cheese Sandwich at Blue Star?!?!

Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Imported swiss, provolone, cheddar & gorgonzola cheeses on sourdough served with apple & dried fruit chutney and dijon mustard.

Ammmmazing.

Food:
Afternoon snack: 7 Cali figs and later a banana
Happy Hour/Dinner: Grilled cheese sandwich and 2 glasses of Reisling

My friend Peggy ordered this beautiful pink drink: cranberry juice with sparkling French wine. I had two glasses of the house Riesling. I should have asked the name of it—it was lovely!

After our gabfest at BSC, we headed over to see “It’s Complicated.” A cute film—lots of laughs, and I LOVE Meryl, Steve, and Alec. (Yeah, we’re on a first name basis).

Fitness:
Gym: Treadmill – 25 minutes jogging (6.8 mph) and 20 minutes walking (4.0 mph)

It was a fun night! I’m going to finish my cup of peppermint tea and hit the hay—so sleepy.

Good taco

Fitness:
None. I had planned to do toning exercises at home, but I was wiped out. Usually I try to talk myself into a workout, but today I didn’t even try. I think I did too much yesterday and ate too little today and yesterday, that my body just needed a rest.

Food:
Afternoon snack: Trail mix from the vending machine.
Pre-Dinner: Lucas and I were starving, so we split a toasted ham & cheese sandwich.
Dinner: Two tomato-basil chicken tacos with caramelized onions and spinach leaves, on Ezekiel whole wheat tortillas.

This was a great combination! The spinach leaves were fresh and crisp, the onions just sweet enough, the chicken was tangy from the tomato/basil spices. This was the first time I used Ezekiel tortillas. They were harder than your usual tortilla, and when I heated them on low in a skillet, they curled and stiffened a bit. Perhaps not the ideal tortilla for tacos, but definitely worth it since they are so much healthier and tasty enough.

Still no word on the duplex. The landlord is supposed to call us….I’m also waiting on a lady from Craigslist to show up to buy some stuff leftover from our wedding reception (as in 2.5 years ago). I hope she shows! If not, I might have to go on another Craigslist Etiquette rant.

Dessert: 3 tbs of chocolate chips

Yes. I confess. Ms. Organic & Whole, Healthy Foods has gone over to the dark side.

Our trip to the grocery store ended with several purchases, to include: a bag of Cheetos.

It’s not like I don’t eat processed foods every now and then—sometimes you just do: you’re at a friends’, out to dinner, at an office lunch, and it happens. But I really can’t remember the last time that we have deliberately set out to eat such crap…. Oh, but its tasty crap.

Oh. That sounds gross. Whoops.

Ready for the freeze?

That arctic blast will be making its way here soon! Hope you are stockpiling the firewood!

Food:
Mid-morning snack: 2 tbs dried cranberries, 2 figs, and 1 date
Lunch: Jason’s Deli catered a meeting I attended today. I ended up with a Tuna & Roasted Tomato Wrap. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t the healthiest option. It had plenty of protein and fiber, but it was also high in fat and salt. I also had 3/4 bag of Baked Lays, and a small plate of fruit.
