I’m loving this weather!

Warm temps and sunny, blue skies are overrated! 🙂 Bring on the bleak!

Food:
Breakfast: Oats-to-go!

I made a batch for Lucas and me:

-2/3 cup steel cut oats
-2 and 1/3 cups water
-2 tbs flaxseeds
-2 tbs dried currants
-4 tbs rolled oats
-4 tbs Ezekiel Original
-1 large carrot, finely shredded
-2 tbs agave nectar

Tasty tasty


Finally! I cleaned my workspace today in a major way. AND created a nice little space for my personal odds & ends that I keep here at work: utensils, condiments, dental care, etc! This cabinet was previously cluttered with papers and folders; I went through all of them and was able to get rid of the bulk of it.

By the way, that is NOT a bottle of wine 🙂 Well, it was once upon a time, but we converted it into to an olive oil dispenser.

Fitness:
-55 minutes at the gym: 15 minutes stretching/abs/core, 25 minutes legs, 15 arms.
-I also plan to run home from work, about 4 miles.

Food:
Mid-morning snack: 6 dried Cali figs
Pre-workout snack: a small yogurt with a cup of Kashi GO LEAN Crunch! Honey Almond Flax
Lunch: Salad grees with sprouted sunflower seeds and brown rice, drizzled in olive oil, and two slices of Alvaredo Street Bakery Sprouted Multi-Grain toast, drizzled in olive oil

My appetite is out of control this morning. I’m insatiable! I finished all my snacks and lunch before noon.

Food:
Mid-morning: 1 cup of Kashi GO LEAN Crunch! Honey Almond Flax cereal; 6 dried Cali figs
Lunch: Salad greens topped with leftover roasted veggies.

Mood:
Good! I slept like a baby; I’m rested and ready to seize the day.

Tonight:
Cirque du Soleil is in town to perform “Alegria”! We have tickets in the cheap seats (and at $40 each, still not that cheap) but we are excited! We’ve been to two performances before (one in New York and one in Connecticut) but have never seen “Alegria”. The music of this particular show has a lot of meaning to me, as my host family from when I was studying abroad in college in Argentina introduced it to me, and the CD was playing all the time in their house. It was like the soundtrack to Lucas’s and my budding romance!

Food:
Breakfast: I whipped up a batch of oats-to-go for Lucas and me. This is what today’s batch had, serves 2.
-2/3 cup steel cut oats
-1 and 1/2 cups water
-3/4 cup soymilk
-4 tbs oat bran
-4 tbs Ezekiel Original
-2 tbs dried currants
-2 tbs flaxseeds
-2 tbs agave nectar

My hamstrings are so sore, but I don’t know why!

Eggs on salad

Food:
Mid-morning snack: 1 cup of Kashi GO LEAN Crunch! Honey Almond Flax
Lunch: Salad greens with 2 chopped carrots, 1 chopped celery stalk, sunflower seeds, 2 scrambled eggs (non-organic), topped with honey dijon dressing. Of course, the eggs were cooked in the kitchen at work on my new burner!

Light Tonight

Fitness:
Day off, although I did take a leisurely 45 minute walk

Food:
Afternoon snack: Peppermint tea and a slice and a half of banana bread
Dinner: Light tonight. Fresh juice (oranges, apple, celery, carrots, ginger, lemon). Refreshing, delicious. I am soooo glad that we got the juicer. We’ve had it for several months now, but I tell you, it’s magic in a glass, everytime.
Post-dinner snack: A cup of Kashi GO LEAN Crunch! Honey Almond Flax. Reminds me of Honey Smacks!

I’m exhausted. Time to do some dishes then go to bed.

Mood:
Good, but a little tired. In bed at 10:15, up at 6:15.

Food:
Breakfast: Oats-to-go….
-1/3 cup steal cut oats
-1 and 1/4 cup of water
-1/4 cup of soymilk
-1 medium to large carrot, finely shredded
-2 tbs Ezekiel Original
-1 tbs oat bran
-1 tbs flax seeds
-1 tbs agave nectar

1) In a medium pot, add steel cut oats, flaxseed and water. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
2) Add milk. Stir.  Continue to cook for 3 minutes, stirring a few times.
3) Add Ezekiel Original and oat bran. Stir.  Continue to cook for 3 minutes. Be sure to keep stirring now and then.
4) Add agave nectar. Cook for 2 more minutes.
5) Add the shredded carrot. Turn off heat. Stir, then let oatmeal cool for a few minutes. Ready to eat or to take on the go.

Delicious! I loved the nutty flavor that the flax seeds gave the oatmeal.

Breakfast: A cup of Celestial Seasonings Honey Lemon Gingseng Green Tea and a bowl of Bear Naked Oatmeal:
-1/2 cup rolled oats
-1 cup water
-1/4 cup soymilk
-1/2 cup of Bear Naked Fruit & Nut Granola
-1 tbs agave nectar
-sprinkling of cinnamon

What a day

Remember the duplex? Remember the landlady that was MIA? I finally got through to her. Long story short, she claims to have to sell it now. What the cuss? Thanks for stringing us along for three weeks…..

…and then there’s the Jeep we’ve been borrowing from our friends that got broken into last night. Yeah, that’s really great. Hey–thanks for smashing in the window, whoever you are. And really–stealing the stereo? Awww, you shouldn’t have. And so thoughtful of you to bust up the dashboard and the door while you were at it. Really. You’re too kind.

Mood:
Sigh

Food:
Lunch: A bowl of Ezekiel Almond cereal with whole milk and agave nectar.
Dinner: Salad greens with honey dijon dressing and a side of happy rice.
Dessert: Hat trick! An entire Lindt Almond Milk Chocolate bar.

Fitness:
-30 minute run in the neighborhood hills
-40 minute Netflix workout

I’ve been a really bad with the blog this week! But the weekend is here, time to refresh and regroup and get things done. Including the blog!

I saw a terrible “comedy” last night: “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.” Have you seen it? It was so bad that I was uncomfortable watching it! I even felt embarassed for the big name actors that were in in it. It starred Simon Pegg (love him! Shawn of the Dead! Hot Fuzz! Run Fatboy Run!) so naturally I thought it was going to be a fun film. I was soooo wrong. Don’t see it! It’s a waste of time!

Anyways—we went to see another duplex this morning. What happened with the other one? Who knows! The landlord is MIA. She hasn’t returned my call or my email. We’re not giving up on her yet, but we are starting to look around at other places…We liked the place we saw today (and the owners seemed like very nice, genuine people)—- it’s good to know there is other stuff out there that meets our criteria.

Tonight is the birthday bash at my friend Alex’s. I’m bringing the desserts, so I have lots of baking to do this afternoon. And a run. Can I do both in 4 hours? I hope so! I didn’t work out Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Yikes! Oh, and for the record, I ate another ENTIRE bar of chocolate last night. Wah.

New day. Got to move on.

Food:
Breakfast: Small hot mocha from Starbucks.
Lunch: Glass of fresh orange & grapefruit juice.

No, I’m not on a liquid diet! Just a weird day. My weekends are pretty weird in general when it comes to meals. That’s just the way it turns out–it’s hard to have a set dining schedule.

Yesterday’s recap:
Afternoon snack: Pear and a bowl of cereal w/ whole milk and raisins
Dinner: Whole wheat linguini with tomato cream sauce and parmesan cheese
Dessert: Ready for this? A whole dark chocolate bar, raisins, and another bowl of cereal. 😦

Lucas made this wonderful meal, and like always, he makes sure the food is arranged just perfectly. He’s so sweet—I had started out taking pictures of another plate, and he said “Wait! Use this one! It has more food and looks better!” What a supportive husband–not only does he put up with my crazy food blogging, he takes part in it!
